Science park companies to see NT$1.59 trillion in salesThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Companies operating in Taiwan's science parks will post total sales of NT$1.59 trillion this year, the Cabinet-level National Science Council (NSC) said, yesterday.
October 8, 2009, 11:00 am TWN The figure was an upward adjustment from the NT$1.41 trillion NSC forecasted in August, yet another sign a recovery is gaining momentum. The NSC announced its new forecasts in a news conference, yesterday, hosted by deputy chairman Chen Li-chun. The numbers had to do with companies operating in Taiwan's three major science parks, namely the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park (HSIP), Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) and Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP). For HSIP, companies made sales of NT$1.8 trillion last year and NT$524.2 billion from January to August this year, due to the financial crisis. For the rest of the year, firms will report higher revenues, with sales expected to total NT$880 billion to 900 billion for the whole year. For CTSP, sales were NT$134.3 billion from January to August this year, and revenue is expected to reach NT$230 billion for 2009. For STSP, sales were NT$271.8 billion from January to August this year, and revenue is expected to fall between NT$450 billion and NT$460 billion this year.
