Canada’s Denny Morrison breaks world recordAFP CALGARY, Canada -- Canada’s Denny Morrison broke the 1,500 meters speed skating world record by clocking a time of one minute, 42.01 seconds on Friday at the ING Finale competition. Morrison, who won the 1,500m world championships in Japan last weekend, eclipsed the previous long track time of 1:42.32 held by both Shani Davis of the United States and Netherlands skater Erban Wennemars. The 22-year-old Morrison earned 25,000 dollars in prize money for the record.
