Average day time temperature stays within a moderate 22-23 across the island. From the middle to the north regions, night time temperature will plunge to 13 degree Celsius. In the south, lowest temperature will drop to 18 degree Celsius. A strong northeast monsoon also has caused strong wind gusts to whip over Taitung, the coastal areas in the middle and the west regions. The wind gusts are expected to weaken today. CWB has issued a warning for strong winds as of yesterday. The effect of the cold air mass is expected to last until Wednesday morning. CWB reported weather will warm up starting Thursday with temperatures climbing to 30 degree in the South. This cold air mass also boost businesses with a department store reported to have sold close to 1,000 comforters in four days. From media reports, some stores are expecting triple sales in comforter and reported many customers have bought two to three comforters in one single purchase. Two convenience stores are also targeting the cold weather and have begun a buy one get one free promotion for hot coffee. According to news, a manager for Family Mart stated coffee sale in winter doubles summer sales. To prepare for the cold weather, doctors have also warned individual with high blood pressure and cardiac diseases to stop morning exercises on the following days.
